Understanding Entropy as Nature’s Tendency

When I first heard the scientific statement that “in an isolated natural system entropy always increases,” I found the explanation unnecessarily complicated. The basic idea became clearer when I understood an isolated system as one that exchanges neither matter nor energy with its surroundings. In such a system, the total entropy cannot decrease. It may remain unchanged in an ideal reversible process, but natural processes generally produce an increase.

A simple example is heat. If a hot object and a cold object are placed together in an insulated system, heat naturally moves from the hot object toward the cold object until the temperature becomes more evenly distributed. Similarly, perfume spreads through a room, ink disperses in water, and a broken glass does not spontaneously return to its original form. Energy is not destroyed in these processes; rather, it becomes distributed among a greater range of possible arrangements. This is why “disorder” is often used as a simple explanation of entropy, although scientifically entropy is more closely related to the number of microscopic states available to a system.

This made me think of entropy as a general tendency toward greater freedom of possible arrangement. The word freedom here is only an intuitive analogy. Nature does not consciously seek freedom, but states with vastly more possible microscopic arrangements are overwhelmingly more probable. A concentrated or restricted state therefore tends naturally toward a more widely distributed state.

Entropy in Non-Isolated Systems

This does not mean that every part of nature must become less organized. A local system can become more organized when it is not isolated and can exchange energy and matter with its surroundings. A refrigerator can make its interior colder while releasing heat outside. A living organism can maintain an extraordinarily organized structure because it continuously takes in energy and matter and releases heat and waste. The important scientific rule concerns the total isolated system, including the relevant surroundings.

This distinction led me to consider whether the same general pattern can be seen in human life. Humans also have a tendency to seek greater freedom of movement, choice, thought, experience and possibility. But unlike physical matter, a human being is conscious and can deliberately accept discipline. A person may restrict immediate freedom in order to gain a larger capacity later, as in meditation, education, skill development or any demanding practice. Therefore human freedom should not be treated as identical to thermodynamic entropy.

Social Order Creates Greater Possibilities

The connection becomes especially interesting when looking at society. Human civilization contains countless organized departments and institutions. Their workers have duties, schedules, procedures and responsibilities. In an everyday sense, these individuals may have less immediate freedom because they are bound to particular functions. Yet their organization creates convenience and freedom for others.

A water department is a simple example. Its employees must coordinate the supply system, maintain infrastructure, solve problems and perform their assigned duties. Their discipline allows water to reach the public without every individual having to obtain and transport water independently. The organization of a relatively small part of society therefore creates greater practical freedom for a much larger population.

The same principle operates through many other departments and services. People accept specialized duties so that society can function collectively. The result is that organization at one level can create possibilities at another level. This does not mean that these social arrangements literally possess low thermodynamic entropy; social order and physical entropy are different concepts. The connection is an analogy about restriction, organization and the expansion of possibilities.

From Social Freedom to Spiritual Practice

The most interesting extension comes when this socially created freedom is used for inner development. When basic facilities are available, a person does not need to spend all of their time meeting basic physical requirements. The time and energy made available by organized society can be directed toward work, creativity, education, enjoyment, contemplation or spiritual practice.

Some people may therefore use the conditions created by civilization to practice Kundalini Yoga or another spiritual discipline. From the perspective of that spiritual tradition and personal experience, such practice may lead toward awakening and liberation. In this sense, a chain can be imagined: individuals accept duties and create organized services; organized services make public life more convenient; convenience creates additional human possibilities; and some people use those possibilities for spiritual practice.

This is not a scientific claim that thermodynamic entropy causes Kundalini awakening. Thermodynamic entropy and spiritual liberation belong to different conceptual frameworks. Calling awakening “ultimate entropy” can therefore be meaningful as a philosophical metaphor, but it should not be presented as the scientific definition of entropy.

Local Order Within Overall Increase

The idea can now be stated more precisely. An individual or group within a larger non-isolated system can become highly organized while the larger process continues to involve entropy production. A water department may be highly coordinated, while its organized activity enables water, energy, time and convenience to flow outward through society. Likewise, social institutions can maintain internal order while making a wider range of activity possible for the people they serve.

Thus, what initially seemed like a contradiction becomes understandable: local order and overall entropy increase can exist together. The organized part does not have to become increasingly disordered merely because the larger system has increasing entropy. It can maintain its organization by participating in exchanges with its surroundings.

For human beings, this provides an interesting philosophical picture. Civilization uses organization and discipline to remove certain restrictions from ordinary life. The freedom produced by that organization can then be used in many directions. It may lead to more outward activity, more experiences and more choices, or it may be consciously turned inward.

That inward direction is where the spiritual interpretation begins. A person who has gained sufficient external freedom may choose to reduce distraction and voluntarily adopt discipline for Kundalini practice, meditation or contemplation. The apparent paradox is that one kind of restriction can create another kind of freedom. Social discipline can create practical freedom, and spiritual discipline can be understood as a path toward inner freedom.

The Larger Meaning

I therefore find entropy useful not because physics proves a spiritual doctrine, but because the concept provides a way of thinking about how restriction, organization and freedom can exist at different levels. The second law tells us that the total entropy of an isolated system cannot decrease. Means the general direction or tendency of creation is towards the freedom or liberation. Yoga does not produce this tendency, it is already there, it just speeds it up. Open systems can nevertheless develop and maintain local organization by exchanging energy and matter. Human society provides an analogous structure in which organized duties create services, services create convenience, convenience creates freedom, and that freedom can be used for purposes chosen by the individual.

At the farthest end of that possibility, a person may use the freedom created by the outer world not to seek more external possibilities but to turn inward toward awakening and liberation. This same happened to me in a way, I feel so. Whether that final state should be called “ultimate entropy” is a matter of philosophical language, not thermodynamics. The scientifically safe statement is that entropy concerns physical systems, while the spiritual journey concerns consciousness and experience.

The connection I see is therefore not an equation between entropy and liberation. It is a broader observation: nature can contain local organization within an overall process of increasing entropy, society can create freedom through organization, and human freedom can finally be used to pursue an inward form of liberation.

Kundalini, the Soul and the Big Bang: Is Consciousness Repeating the Birth and Death of the Universe?

The Big Bang, Inflation and the Question of Origin

When we ask how the universe began, the usual image is of a tiny point exploding outward. But modern cosmology gives us a subtler picture. Inflation describes an extremely early phase in which the cosmos underwent a dramatic stretching during a tiny fraction of a second. Space itself expanded rapidly; it was not matter simply exploding into an already existing empty space. A useful but limited analogy is compressed air expanding, because stored energy can drive expansion, but inflation is fundamentally different: there was no external container and no pre-existing space into which the universe was expanding. The geometry of space itself was changing.

What drove that expansion is generally described in terms of an inflaton field in a high-energy state. Its energy behaved approximately like vacuum energy and, because such a state has strongly negative pressure, it could produce accelerated expansion according to general relativity. When inflation ended, the inflaton transitioned toward a lower-energy state, and its energy was transferred into particles and radiation. This process is called reheating. The inflaton could oscillate, decay and interact with other fields, producing enormous numbers of particles that eventually interacted and approached thermal equilibrium, giving rise to the hot plasma from which the later universe evolved. The precise identity of the inflaton and the exact mechanism of reheating remain unknown.

This immediately raises the deeper question: where did the inflaton, its high-energy state, or even the initial conditions come from? Science does not presently have a complete answer. If we mathematically run the simplest classical Big Bang model backward, we reach what is called a singularity, where quantities such as density and spacetime curvature become infinite. But a singularity is probably better understood as a sign that our present theory, general relativity, has reached its limit rather than as proof that there was literally a tiny ball of infinitely compressed matter. We therefore have a major gap between the earliest describable universe and whatever deeper quantum-gravitational reality may have preceded it, if “preceded” is even meaningful there.

A Human Analogy of Cosmic Expansion

I began wondering whether a similar pattern could be imagined within a human being. God, or Brahman, is often called infinite. I imagine it not as ordinary physical space but as something indescribable and unlimited in every aspect, a ground more fundamental than any individual object, space or energy. Perhaps what we call an individual soul emerges within that infinite reality as a confined and highly energetic state. Birth could then be imagined as a kind of personal Big Bang. The initially concentrated inner space begins to expand, and as it expands its energy decreases while the released potential appears as the experienced world.

The first experiences of a person could metaphorically resemble fundamental particles: the simplest constituents from which later structures are formed. As life proceeds, the inner space continues expanding and new experiences fill it. Yet newer experiences are not necessarily entirely new creations. They can be growths, combinations and increasingly complex expressions of the earliest structures, just as complex physical structures develop from more elementary constituents. Memory, knowledge, relationships, skills, desires, understanding and identity gradually build an extensive inner universe.

The initial expansion also seems to slow. Yet there can come another stage in which one’s accumulated world begins to expand almost by itself. A person who has grown greatly in business may find that new opportunities generate further opportunities without conscious effort at every step. Knowledge produces more questions and connections. Art produces new possibilities from what has already been created. Intellectual growth creates the conditions for still more growth. This resembles, metaphorically, the role of dark energy in cosmology: an expansion that is no longer simply the continuation of the original impulse of birth but appears to possess its own further momentum. This is only an analogy, not a claim that human development is literally governed by dark energy.

Death as a Return of the Expanded Inner Universe

At death, the expanded inner world of a person would, in this speculative picture, no longer continue its ordinary outward development through the body. Instead, the enormous space of accumulated knowledge and experience could be imagined as contracting toward the concentrated high-energy state from which its journey began. The visible world of the individual would then be transformed back into a more concentrated potential. The amount of this remaining potential would correspond metaphorically to the richness and extent of the world accumulated during life. This would also explain why different souls could retain different identifying signatures: each would represent a unique configuration of experiences rather than an identical undifferentiated state.

Here the analogy with vacuum decay becomes interesting, though it must be used carefully. In physics, vacuum decay specifically refers to a hypothetical transition from a metastable false vacuum to a lower-energy vacuum. Some inflationary models involve such a transition, but the end of inflation in general is not simply synonymous with vacuum decay. Likewise, reheating is the transfer of inflationary energy into particles and radiation. My proposal is extending these physical ideas into a metaphysical analogy: a high-energy confined state gives rise to an expanded differentiated world, while movement toward a more stable state releases its stored potential into manifestation.

Creation, then, could be imagined as a cycle in which a concentrated high-energy state differentiates into an experiential universe, while dissolution returns that differentiated universe toward its original ground. The outer universe and the inner universe would be two scales of the same pattern.

A Personal Experience of a Departed Soul

This model became much more vivid for me because of an experience during a dream visitation in which I seemed to encounter directly the freshly departed soul of a close acquaintance. What I experienced did not resemble an unlimited, already dissolved consciousness. It felt more like a confined region of extremely high-energy space, limited in extent and apparently bounded. Most striking was the sense of enormous internal pressure, almost like a bubble trying to grow from within itself. It felt as though the space contained something intensely concentrated that naturally wanted to expand.

I do not take this experience as scientific proof of a physical mechanism. It was an experience, and its interpretation remains speculative. But phenomenologically it gave me a remarkably clear image for the model: perhaps a newly departed individual consciousness is still a highly concentrated configuration carrying the accumulated structure of a lifetime. In that sense it would resemble a universe immediately after its own beginning—bounded, intensely energetic and possessing an inherent tendency toward expansion.

Kundalini, Dissolution and the Final Direction of the Cycle

The deepest possibility in this model comes from Kundalini yoga and the practice of witnessing. If ordinary life continually expands the inner world, perhaps spiritual practice can reverse the process while one is still alive. Through deep witnessing, memories, identities, desires, attachments and distinctions are progressively seen without being reinforced. Instead of adding more structure to the inner universe, the practitioner allows that structure to dissolve into the indescribable ground.

This would make liberation fundamentally different from ordinary death. The ordinary person dies carrying an extensively differentiated inner world. The yogic practitioner may, through realization, dissolve that inner world before death. There is then no elaborate structure left to generate or sustain another cycle of inner expansion. In this metaphor, the ultimate state is not a larger universe but the absence of the separate world altogether.

This also gives a possible meaning to the idea that the void is the most stable and fundamental state. Rather than imagining the void as an empty container filled with nothing, it may be understood as that which remains when all distinctions have disappeared. It is not merely low-energy space in the scientific sense; it is the metaphysical ground beyond the distinctions of space, energy, object and individual identity.

From Individual Dissolution to Mahapralaya

The same pattern can finally be imagined on a cosmic scale. Perhaps one day the outer universe too could undergo its own form of dissolution. In the scriptural vision of Mahapralaya, everything returns into the Divine: not simply stars and matter disappearing, but all separate forms, distinctions and identities losing their independent existence. Space, energy and the differentiated universe itself would no longer stand apart as separate realities. In a way it is like the entire cosmos doing kundalini yoga to be liberated.

In that sense, creation and dissolution become two movements of one cycle: the One appearing as many, and the many returning to the One. The individual soul is then a miniature cosmos, birth is a kind of expansion, life is the filling of an inner universe with differentiated experience, death is a return toward concentration, and spiritual realization is the possibility of consciously reversing the process. The ultimate destination is not another object or another world but the indescribable ground from which all worlds appear.

Kundalini, Gravity and the Theory of Everything: Can the Four Fundamental Forces Reveal the Hidden Structure of Consciousness?

When I began thinking about the fundamental forces of nature, one difference kept standing out to me. In the familiar picture of the electromagnetic, strong, and weak interactions, there is some form of exchange. Particles interact through fields, and in quantum field theory this interaction is described in terms of exchange quanta. Electromagnetism is mediated by photons, the strong force by gluons, and the weak interaction by W and Z bosons. Gravity seems different. In general relativity, it is not ordinarily described as one object exchanging something with another in the same way. Instead, mass-energy changes the geometry of spacetime, and objects move through that curved geometry. This made me wonder whether the difference between gravity and the other forces could also be understood through the human world, through the old idea of understanding the macrocosm through the microcosm.

The attraction between two lovers gives me an image of electromagnetism. There is attraction and repulsion, but there is also exchange. Love, affection, attention, touch, companionship, gifts, care, and sometimes material support continually pass between the two. Their relationship is not simply an invisible attraction; something moves between them and sustains the relationship. In this sense, it resembles the electromagnetic picture, where interaction is associated with an exchange process.

The strong nuclear force suggests another kind of human relationship to me: the family. Family members may love each other, quarrel with each other, dislike each other, and sometimes even strongly repel each other emotionally, yet they remain bound together by an unusually powerful connection. There is also exchange here: food, money, shelter, protection, security, responsibility, inheritance, care, and other forms of support. The family bond can remain powerful even when personal feelings fluctuate. That makes it a useful human analogy for the strong force, not because the two are literally the same thing, but because both suggest an extraordinary form of binding.

The weak nuclear force seems to belong to a different category altogether. It is not primarily a force of binding. One of its defining features is transformation: particles can change from one type into another through weak interactions. That gives me an analogy with those human encounters that alter what a person is. A teacher, a crisis, a profound relationship, a spiritual experience, or some decisive insight can enter a person’s life and leave that person fundamentally changed. Before the encounter one is one kind of person; afterward one is no longer quite the same. In that sense, the weak force can serve as a metaphor for transformation rather than simple attraction or binding.

Gravity then appears to me as the most unusual of the four. My thought is about the attraction that people sometimes feel toward a mystic, sage, or kundalini yogi. A person may be drawn toward such an individual without romance, possession, material exchange, social ambition, or any obvious personal gain. People may become crowded in the discourse hall simply because they want to be in his presence. Yet the relationship can remain strangely non-personal. They may listen, sit quietly, and eventually leave without trying to possess him. There can be attraction without the kind of obvious give-and-take that characterizes ordinary relationships.

This is why gravity provides the most interesting analogy for me. In general relativity, gravity is not simply a force transmitted through space in the ordinary Newtonian sense. Mass-energy changes the geometry of spacetime itself, and bodies move according to that geometry. As a metaphor, I can imagine the mystic as someone who has profoundly transformed the geometry of his own inner space—almost as though he has curved and extended the space-time of consciousness within himself. A curved surface can contain more area than a corresponding flat projection, giving an intuitive image of how an apparently limited inner space might become vast through transformation. Mystics are traditionally described as experiencing Brahman, the pure and unlimited reality beyond the ordinary boundaries of individual consciousness, which can be contemplated as an experience of boundless inner space—not physical space in the scientific sense, but an immeasurable field of awareness. When other people enter such a mystic’s presence, their own inner movement may be altered; they are drawn toward him not necessarily because he is exchanging something with them or because they expect personal gain, but because his presence seems to change the space in which they experience themselves. In this sense, they are drawn not merely toward the person but toward the expanded field of consciousness associated with him, much as people have traditionally been drawn toward figures such as Krishna or Buddha. The analogy is not that consciousness literally curves physical spacetime, but that a transformed consciousness may create an expanded experiential space into which others feel naturally drawn, much as physical bodies move according to the geometry of curved spacetime.

Of course, this must remain an analogy. There is no established scientific evidence that a mystic literally curves physical spacetime through consciousness. Nor can we scientifically say that the attraction toward a spiritual teacher is gravity. The useful point is structural: the mystic gives a human image of attraction that does not obviously depend upon a transaction between two individuals. It resembles gravity as a metaphor because the presence of one changes the space through which another moves.

This also led me to another curious observation. Gravity is enormously weaker than the other fundamental interactions at the particle scale. Humanly, the attraction toward a mystic can likewise appear very gentle and distant. No one necessarily rushes forward to embrace or possess the mystic. People may simply remain at a respectful distance, listen, and still feel strongly drawn toward him. The attraction does not have to produce ordinary attachment.

From this perspective, the four interactions suggest four different patterns: electromagnetism attracts through interaction and exchange; the strong force binds despite opposition; the weak force transforms; and gravity changes the geometry in which movement takes place. These are not literal correspondences between physics and psychology, but they provide a way of contemplating different forms of relationship.

This is where the idea of the macrocosm and the microcosm becomes meaningful to me. The small can sometimes provide a language for thinking about the large. A pattern observed in the physical world can become a symbolic mirror for patterns in human life and consciousness. The microcosm does not prove anything about the macrocosm, but it can help us recognize structures that otherwise remain abstract.

It also makes the problem of a Theory of Everything appear even more profound. The difficulty may not simply be that gravity is another force whose particle has not yet been found. The deeper problem is that the other three interactions have quantum-field descriptions that operate within spacetime, whereas gravity, in general relativity, is itself associated with spacetime geometry. We are therefore not merely trying to put four similar forces into one theory. We may be trying to understand the relationship between the actors and the stage on which they act.

A graviton is expected in some approaches that quantize weak gravitational fields, but no graviton has been experimentally detected, and there is still no complete experimentally confirmed quantum theory of gravity. So perhaps gravity is not merely the fourth member of a group of otherwise similar forces. Perhaps it is pointing toward something deeper in the structure of reality.

That is why gravity feels special to me. Electromagnetism, the strong interaction, and the weak interaction can be imagined through exchange, binding, and transformation. Gravity seems to say something different: the presence itself can alter the space of relationship. Whether that remains only a metaphor or someday proves to reflect a deeper truth about nature is an open scientific question. But the analogy offers a simple way of looking from the human inward to the physical outward, and then back again—from the microcosm toward the macrocosm.

Vacuum Decay, the Human Mind, and the Kundalini Yogi: A Metaphorical Cosmology of Worldliness and Stillness

From the Physical Vacuum to the Inner World

Vacuum decay sounds as if empty space suddenly disappears, but in modern physics a vacuum is not simply empty space. Quantum fields exist throughout space, and what we call particles are excitations of those fields. A vacuum is a particular state of those fields. That state can, in some theories, be a local minimum of potential energy rather than the absolute lowest one. Such a state is called a false vacuum, while the lower-energy state is called the true vacuum. Quantum mechanics allows a metastable false vacuum to tunnel into a lower-energy state. The transition is described through a tunnelling or bounce solution and can produce a bubble of the new vacuum. If the bubble is too small it can collapse, but beyond a critical condition it can expand, potentially approaching the speed of light and replacing the old vacuum. When gravity is included, the situation becomes even more profound because vacuum energy affects spacetime itself. This physical picture led me to see a possible metaphorical correspondence with the human mind.

False Vacuum as Worldly Mind

I began thinking of the false vacuum as similar to the darkness of an ordinary worldly mind. Here darkness does not simply mean evil or absence of knowledge. It means the unseen, unexamined and latent structure through which worldliness is continually generated. The more strongly a person is identified with the world, the greater this darkness appears to be. Beneath conscious thought there are memories, expectations, fears, desires, habits, identity, comparison, social conditioning and countless subtle associations. Much of what maintains our ordinary mental world is therefore not consciously visible. It is already present in a subtle or encoded form, ready to produce further thoughts, emotions, desires and actions. In this sense I see worldliness as a kind of latent world-generating potential.

This also gives a useful metaphorical meaning to the high energy of a false vacuum. In physics, one should not simply say that every high-energy vacuum necessarily has larger quantum fluctuations, because fluctuation behavior depends on the particular fields, masses and couplings. Yet higher-energy field configurations can possess substantial potential for excitation and manifestation. This is the part of the analogy that interests me. The false vacuum is not itself the particles, just as the subtle structure of the mind is not itself every individual thought. Rather, it is the underlying condition from which manifestations can arise. Quantum excitations arise from the field configuration, while thoughts, emotions and worldly responses arise from the latent organization of the mind. Therefore I began to think of the subtle information of worldliness as something like the potential structure hidden within the false vacuum. It is not a literal storage of every object or event, but a hidden capacity from which the manifest world can continually be regenerated.

Quantum Fluctuations and the Mental World

In this metaphor, mental activity can be compared with fluctuations. An ordinary mind continually moves through memory, desire, anticipation, fear, pleasure, pain, identification and planning. One thought produces another, one emotion activates another, and the resulting actions produce fresh impressions. The process therefore becomes self-maintaining: desire produces thought, thought produces action, action produces consequences, and those consequences produce new desire. The worldly mind can thus be imagined metaphorically as a high-activity state with substantial capacity for generating further manifestations. This does not mean that psychological activity is literally caused by quantum fluctuations, nor that the human mind can be physically equated with a cosmological vacuum. The correspondence is structural and phenomenological: hidden potential gives rise to visible manifestations.

The Sage as True Vacuum

A profound transformation appears when an ordinary person becomes a sage, or what I also call a kundalini yogi in this metaphor. The change is not simply that the person has fewer thoughts. It is more radical. The underlying compulsion to continuously construct and maintain a personal worldly cosmos becomes quiet. A deep contemplative state can therefore be imagined as a true vacuum: a state of minimal psychological agitation, minimal compulsive fluctuation and minimal dependence on the continual generation of worldly experience.

This does not necessarily mean that the sage has lost all information. A Buddha can remember people, language and teachings, and a kundalini yogi may still function normally in the world. The deeper change is that information no longer has the same power to generate attachment, identity, craving and psychological continuation. Thus the useful distinction is not information versus no information, but information that actively generates worldliness versus information that remains without compulsive identification. In this sense the true vacuum metaphor represents the lowest world-generating activity rather than literal mental emptiness.

When an Individual Changes State

The transformation of an ordinary householder into a sage can therefore be compared metaphorically with false vacuum becoming true vacuum. The old worldly state is a metastable condition, apparently secure but still carrying the possibility of transition. A brief mystical experience may be like a subcritical bubble: an extraordinary moment appears, but the ordinary mental structure reasserts itself and the experience collapses. A deeper realization may cross a critical threshold. At that point the new state becomes sufficiently stable that the previous organization cannot easily restore itself.

The critical bubble in this analogy is not a physical radius. It represents the depth, stability and integration of realization. Below the threshold, worldliness is stronger than realization; above it, realization becomes strong enough to sustain itself. The “bubble wall” can be understood metaphorically as the resistance between the old and new states: attachment, identity, fear, habit, conditioning and the fear of losing the familiar self. Spiritual practice then becomes a gradual weakening of the barrier between the ordinary worldly state and inner stillness.

From One Mind to Many Minds

The analogy becomes even more interesting when realization spreads. One person’s transformation can affect others through speech, example, teaching and direct influence. A sage may become a source from which other people begin to observe their own minds, question their attachments and discover a quieter state. One transformed mind can therefore influence another, and that mind can influence another, creating a chain of transmission. In this metaphor the sage becomes a nucleation center of a different mental state.

This is where the idea of a critical bubble becomes collective. A person’s realization may remain localized if it does not spread beyond the individual. But if it becomes sufficiently powerful and transmissible, the psychological bubble can expand into a community, a tradition, a civilization and perhaps, over very long periods, a wider transformation of collective consciousness. Figures such as Buddha can be viewed in this philosophical sense as extraordinary examples of a personal realization becoming a lasting field of influence. Krishna can similarly be treated as a theological or archetypal representation of a consciousness that transforms the relationship between action, attachment and liberation. I do not mean that these figures literally altered the quantum vacuum; rather, their significance lies in the ability of a transformed mode of consciousness to propagate through human minds.

Two Different Meanings of Cosmic Destruction

This metaphor also clarifies what it means to say that a sage “destroys the cosmos.” The physical universe is not necessarily destroyed by enlightenment. Stars, planets, bodies and ordinary physical processes can continue. What is diminished is the mentally constructed cosmos: the personal world of “I,” “mine,” desire, fear, comparison, memory, expectation and attachment. In that sense spiritual liberation is not necessarily annihilation of the external universe but cessation of the psychological machinery that continually recreates one’s experienced worldly universe.

The idea can therefore be expressed at three scales. At the level of physics, a metastable vacuum can theoretically transition into a lower-energy vacuum through quantum tunnelling and bubble nucleation. At the level of an individual, a worldly mind can metaphorically transition into profound stillness. At the collective level, a deeply realized person can transmit that transformation to others. The common pattern is a seemingly stable state containing hidden potential for transition, followed by a movement toward a state of lower activity and a possible expansion of the new state.

The Larger Cosmological Question

This metaphor naturally raises a much larger possibility. Perhaps the physical cosmos and the experienced cosmos should be distinguished: one is the universe described by quantum fields and spacetime, while the other is the universe constructed in consciousness through sensation, memory, interpretation, desire and identity. Vacuum decay belongs to the physical description, whereas enlightenment belongs to the phenomenological and spiritual description. There is currently no established scientific evidence that a sage’s mental realization causes physical vacuum decay. That would be a speculative hypothesis, not accepted physics. Yet the structural similarity is striking: a high-potential state, hidden possibilities, manifestation through excitation, a transition to a lower-energy condition and, under certain circumstances, expansion of the new state.

This gives a final way of expressing the whole idea. The false vacuum is not merely “empty space with energy”; metaphorically, it is a latent world-generating condition. The worldly mind is similarly not merely a collection of conscious thoughts; it contains subtle structures capable of continually regenerating its experienced world. The true vacuum, by contrast, represents the deepest stillness, where the compulsive generation of that personal cosmos has greatly diminished. A householder becoming a sage is therefore metaphorically a false vacuum becoming a true vacuum. A temporary realization is a subcritical bubble; a stable realization crosses the critical threshold; and a rare, extraordinarily powerful sage may become a center from which a different mode of consciousness spreads through many minds. In this sense the language of vacuum decay becomes a powerful metaphor for the movement from worldliness to stillness, from latent psychological complexity to liberation, and from the continuous creation of a mental cosmos toward its profound inner dissolution.

It should not be surprising, then, if cosmic vacuum decay has a corresponding reflection in the individual mind, just as other cosmic principles can be reflected in the individual. This is also expressed in the scriptural idea “yat pinde tat brahmande”—what is in the individual is in the cosmos, or what exists in the microcosm is reflected in the macrocosm. From this perspective, the individual is not separate from the larger cosmic process but can be regarded as its smaller reflection. Therefore, studying the individual mind may provide a way to study corresponding principles of cosmology, just as studying cosmological processes may provide metaphors or models for understanding the individual. In this sense, the possibility that a cosmic vacuum transition could have an inner psychological counterpart is not an arbitrary comparison but follows naturally from the microcosm–macrocosm principle. The physical correspondence itself remains a hypothesis rather than established science, but the philosophical method of looking for the same pattern in the individual and the cosmos is ancient.

The Cosmic Apocalypse Reflected Within the Individual

Thus the cosmic apocalypse may have its corresponding reflection within the individual as a mental apocalypse. According to the scriptural vision, God first brought forth the universe and then entered into it in order to experience and sustain it. The Upanishadic idea that the Divine, having created the world, then entered into it expresses this profound principle. If the human being is itself a miniature form of the universe, then the Divine did not merely enter the vast cosmos from outside; it first created a miniature cosmos in the form of the individual and entered that miniature through the individual soul, thereby entering the universe in concentrated form. The human body by itself is inert; it becomes a living centre of perception, thought, action and experience when animated by the soul. In this sense, the individual is a microcosm through which the macrocosm experiences and operates itself. Therefore, if the universe can undergo its own cosmic processes, including a possible transition from one vacuum state to another, a corresponding process may also be contemplated within the individual as a transformation of the mental cosmos. The worldly mind continuously maintains its experienced universe through memory, desire, identity, perception, thought and subtle tendencies; when these world-generating processes become profoundly quiet, that inner cosmos can undergo its own apocalypse—not necessarily the destruction of the physical world, but the dissolution of the mental world through which it is experienced. Thus the individual can be studied as a miniature expression of the cosmos, and the transformation occurring within the individual can offer a way of contemplating corresponding transformations in the larger universe. This remains a metaphysical interpretation rather than an established scientific description of cosmology, but within the scriptural understanding of the microcosm and macrocosm, the correspondence is natural: the Divine enters the cosmos through its living miniature, and the dissolution of the worldly cosmos can therefore be contemplated not only in the vastness of space but also in the deepest stillness of the individual mind.

Entropy, Kundalini and Higher Order: My Journey Beyond Social Order

From Social Order to Inner Order

There was a time when I began to feel that the order in which I was living was not the deepest order available to me. Ordinary life seemed largely organized around identity, status, ambition, possessions, reputation, social expectations and accepted ways of thinking. I gradually moved beyond some of this superficial order and entered a different field of inquiry through nonduality, karmayoga, Sharir Vigyan Darshan and what I call quantum darshan. Along this journey I experienced awakenings, nirvikalpa dhyana, peace and wisdom. From outside, this might have appeared as leaving one order behind, but inwardly it felt more like the loosening of one structure and the emergence of another.

Only later did entropy become useful to me as a metaphor for this transition. I do not mean that consciousness acquired measurable thermodynamic entropy. Entropy in physics has a precise scientific meaning. I use it only to describe the loosening of an existing organization: when its constraints weaken, attachment to its established arrangement decreases and a wider field of possibilities opens.

Entropy, therefore, should not simply be equated with disorder. A high-entropy state is not necessarily bad, chaotic or inferior, just as low entropy is not automatically better. The meaningful sequence is not entropy produces higher order, but an existing order loosens, possibilities widen, and another organization may or may not emerge.

Social Order and Kundalini

Social order is useful. It provides stability, responsibility, cooperation and continuity. But it can also become bound to ego. Status, ambition, possessions, reputation, comparison and social approval may create an outwardly organized life while leaving a person inwardly governed by fear, attachment or the need for recognition.

Likewise, someone who departs from conventional society may appear disordered while undergoing genuine inner transformation. Neither conformity nor rebellion proves spiritual realization.

This is especially important with Kundalini. Leaving society does not itself guarantee Kundalini awakening, meditation, realization or wisdom. One person may withdraw and discover deeper spiritual order; another may become isolated, unstable or attached to a new spiritual ego. The old structure may disappear without a better one replacing it.

My own experience therefore should not be treated as a universal formula. What mattered in my journey was not merely moving away from superficial social order, but what followed: spiritual inquiry, meditation, awakenings, nirvikalpa dhyana, peace, wisdom and my continuing exploration of nonduality, karmayoga, Sharir Vigyan Darshan and quantum darshan.

Detached Participation

Because of this, I increasingly see value in remaining connected with society while becoming inwardly detached from its superficial pressures. One can continue working, maintaining relationships and fulfilling responsibilities without being psychologically dependent on status, possessions, reputation or approval.

At the same time, one can associate with sincere Kundalini yogis, meditators and spiritually oriented people. I think of this as a secondary order within the primary social order: ordinary society continues to provide practical stability, while a second field develops around meditation, spiritual inquiry, discipline and practice.

This allows spiritual exploration without requiring complete social withdrawal. It also shows that greater freedom does not have to mean greater isolation.

The Water Cycle as a Metaphor

The water cycle gives me a natural image for this process. Water in the ocean has a recognizable large-scale organization. Through evaporation, it leaves that arrangement and becomes dispersed in the atmosphere. Later, cooling and condensation may bring it into droplets and clouds, contributing to rain, rivers, groundwater and the wider hydrological cycle.

The point is not that entropy creates clouds. It does not. The point is that water can leave one form of organization and later participate in another.

But there is an important limitation: vapour does not necessarily become a rain-bearing cloud. It may condense as dew or follow another pathway. Likewise, when a person loosens the structure imposed by conventional social conditioning, the resulting freedom may lead toward meditation, Kundalini practice and deeper realization—or toward confusion and fragmentation.

Dissolution is therefore an opening of possibilities, not a guarantee of evolution.

The water analogy is only structural, not literal. Water forms collective structures through physical processes, while human beings form spiritual communities through consciousness, relationships and shared purposes. Yet both illustrate that leaving an earlier arrangement does not mean remaining permanently dispersed.

The Scientific Boundary

The thermodynamic analogy must remain limited. Local organization can emerge within larger processes in which total entropy increases. Clouds and living organisms can display considerable structure while participating in processes involving entropy production. Thus entropy and ordinary “disorder” are not simple opposites.

This does not scientifically prove Kundalini, nonduality or spiritual evolution, nor do my experiences establish a physical law of consciousness. The scientific and spiritual levels must remain distinct.

The legitimate connection is only the structural one: an existing organization can loosen, a wider range of possibilities can open, and another organization can subsequently emerge.

The Pattern I See

The process can therefore be expressed as:

existing social order → loosening of identification → wider freedom → spiritual association and practice → possible deeper order → integration

But another outcome is possible:

existing social order → escape without deeper organization → fragmentation → loss of outer and inner order

The water cycle expresses the same structural possibility:

ocean → evaporation → atmospheric dispersion → condensation or another pathway → cloud, dew, rain or another state

Neither sequence guarantees its final stage.

My own journey taught me, therefore, not to romanticize either conformity or escape. One can leave society and find nothing higher; one can remain within society and become inwardly free. What matters is not the external form but the organization of life that emerges within it.

For the seeker of Kundalini, the wiser approach may be detached participation: remain connected enough to society to preserve useful outer order, detached enough to gain inner freedom, and connected enough with genuine practitioners to nurture deeper practice.

The central insight is not that entropy is good or that disorder produces Kundalini. It is that the dissolution of one order can open the possibility of another. The loosening is only the opening. If a higher order emerges, it is revealed by what becomes reorganized afterward.

The highest possibility is therefore not society versus Kundalini, or order versus entropy, but a deeper order capable of containing both.

The Quantum Verse: Humanity, Mind Control, Free Will, and the Natural Order

From Spider-Man Mind Control to a Deeper Question

A recent Spider-Man movie made me think about mind control. Two sisters possess a mysterious ability to enter and control other people’s minds. After one sister is killed, the other becomes consumed by grief and revenge and uses her power to control people and create destruction. Spider-Man tries to stop her. The movie shows direct mind control, where one person’s will is imposed on another, but it also led me to a different possibility: a mind does not have to be entered directly in order to be strongly controlled. Teaching, repetition, authority, fear, reward, and fixed ideas of right and wrong can shape a person’s thinking so deeply that the person begins to act automatically according to them. Nobody then needs to command the person, because the learned idea itself guides action. The person may sincerely feel, “I am doing this because it is right.” Thus, controlling the framework through which a person decides what is right can sometimes be more subtle than controlling the action directly.

When Inhumanity Is Taught as Humanity

This becomes especially important when a doctrine teaches that an action is sacred, divinely commanded, or morally superior. If such teaching becomes deeply internalized, even an inhumane act can be understood as a humane or divine duty. The person may not feel that he has abandoned humanity; rather, the definition of humanity itself may have been changed in his mind. This can help explain how religious fanaticism and other ideological extremism can develop, although a religion, its interpretation, and the beliefs of ordinary followers are not necessarily the same. The same mechanism can occur in political movements, cults, nationalism, or any system that makes a moral definition unquestionable. The important point is that the person may experience the resulting behavior as his own free choice even when his values have been heavily conditioned.

Why Humanity Cannot Be Fixed

Years ago I developed a four-line verse from which Sharirvigyan Darshan gradually expanded: “No religion better than humanity, no worship better than work, no teacher better than problem, and no hermit better than householdship.” I deliberately left the word humanity undefined because humanity cannot be reduced to one permanent behavior. Giving water to a conscious, thirsty person may be humane, while giving water in the same way to an unconscious person may cause it to enter the lungs and choke him. Likewise, kindness toward a cruel person may become inhumane if it allows him to continue harming others. In one situation humanity may require compassion; in another it may require resistance, restraint, or protection of the innocent. Therefore humanity is not simply an action or a fixed rule. It is the conscious response appropriate to the living situation. If humanity itself is rigidly defined, it can become another form of conditioning, so the first line means that no religion should be allowed to become greater than living humanity itself.

Why Work Is Better Than Symbolic Worship

The second line does not say that worship, ritual, study, or symbolic practice is worthless. Its point is that practical application is better than remaining only with the symbol. A person may keep reading about yoga, discussing yoga, and understanding its symbolism without actually practising it. The symbol can then become a substitute for the reality it represents. I used the word work, rather than service, because work also remains open and situational. It means purposeful action in favour of humanity as required by the present circumstance. It may be teaching, healing, studying, creating, protecting, caring for family, performing professional duty, solving a problem, or refusing to participate in harm. What is right work can therefore change from moment to moment. The principle is that spiritual understanding should find practical expression in life.

Why the Problem Comes Before the Teacher

“No teacher better than problem” does not mean that teachers are unnecessary. The problem comes first because it shows what teaching is actually needed. Without understanding the problem, a person may choose a teacher because that teacher is famous, impressive, traditional, or popular and may therefore follow the wrong teaching. The sequence is problem → need → appropriate teaching → appropriate teacher. The problem is therefore the student’s first teacher, and when the problem changes, the required teaching and perhaps the teacher may also change. The line protects a person from making authority more important than the reality that needs to be understood.

Why the Hermit Leads Back to Householdship

“No hermit better than householdship” also does not mean that a hermit is worthless. The hermit represents spiritual discipline, inwardness, simplicity, and higher development. My point is that the aim of the hermit should ultimately be achievable in household life itself. Family, relationships, responsibilities, work, conflict, love, disappointment, and ordinary difficulties are the field in which spiritual understanding is tested. Household life should therefore also be spiritually uplifting. The movement is not from household life toward escape from life, but from the spiritual aim represented by the hermit back into ordinary life. The hermit is therefore a valuable example, while householdship becomes the field in which that aim is lived.

The Verse as Indirect Mind Control

In this sense, the verse itself can be called a form of mind control, but not control through coercion or domination. It presents a principle as the best way of approaching life, and once the mind accepts that principle, it begins to guide itself through it: verse → reflection → changed values → changed interpretation → changed action. Yet the verse does not prescribe one permanent behavior. Humanity determines the direction, work expresses it, the problem reveals what must be learned, and household life tests the understanding. There is also a safeguard in this structure: even the verse should not become a new dogma. Its purpose is not to make the mind obey mechanically, but to keep the mind conscious, responsive, and capable of discrimination.

I made it for myself only although kept open for others too. When tested practically by me for years it provided me physical and spiritual development along with awakening. Therefore it got verified. However single verification may not mean it’s one and final.

Why I Call It the Quantum Verse

I increasingly feel that this verse was not merely invented as an arbitrary moral instruction. I see it as a human expression of a natural and perhaps eternal principle, which is why I call it The Quantum Verse. I am not claiming that quantum physics has proved the verse or that quantum particles possess human minds. My idea is that quantum particles and natural processes behave as though they follow an underlying order without requiring human-style intention. They continuously interact, respond to changing conditions, and participate in the formation and maintenance of the world. Nature does not work through a classroom; changing conditions themselves create problems to which systems respond. It also does not remain isolated like a hermit; it exists through continuous interaction, more like household life. I therefore use “pretend” carefully: I am not saying that quantum particles have fixed human will, but that they can appear to act as though they possess an inherent direction while actually expressing a deeper natural order.

Quantum Darshan and Sharirvigyan Darshan

This is how I see Quantum Darshan and Sharirvigyan Darshan as arising from the same principle. Quantum Darshan looks toward the fundamental level of existence—particles, fields, interactions, and continuous change—while Sharirvigyan Darshan looks toward the living body—cells, organs, processes, adaptation, and the maintenance of the whole through the activity of its parts. The same pattern can therefore be considered at different levels: quantum level → continuous interaction and change; cellular level → organized living activity; human level → conscious reflection and choice. In this sense, the Quantum Verse is the principle, while Quantum Darshan and Sharirvigyan Darshan are two ways of observing its expression. The cell is especially important because it carries out its own continuous activity while participating in the larger organism, suggesting a broader pattern in which an individual part appears to act independently while remaining within a greater whole.

God, Basic Will, and Free Will

This also leads to my feeling that God may have “controlled the mind” of everything in the world, not by entering every mind separately but by establishing the deepest direction of existence. I am not saying that quantum particles possess a fixed will. Rather, I feel that they appear to act according to a basic order they did not themselves choose. Human beings may likewise have free will while operating inside a deeper order. There may therefore be basic will determined by the deeper order and free will expressed within it. A person can choose among possibilities, but cannot create the fundamental structure in which those possibilities exist. For example, he can choose food of choice out of many but can not choose to refuse food at all. And no doubt, caring for and maintaining own body also come under humanity. In this view, God would not need to micromanage every event; the underlying order itself could guide existence while allowing individual choice. In nutshell, it seems quantum verse is the basic will of God, but if one defines it opposite, then what can be done. A similar illusion also happens inside the body. Cancerous cells begin behaving as though their own uncontrolled growth is in favour of humanity, and in doing so, they unknowingly damage the body. They are not disobeying God’s will or the Quantum Verse, nor can anything in the cosmos truly disobey either as he is the supreme mind-controller. Rather, they are failing to understand humanity correctly. It is the root of all problems. Everyone acts according to what they consider right, but wrong happens when what is actually wrong is considered right. It is a wonderful aspect of psychology: everyone needs to justify their actions, whether right or wrong. No one can live happily and properly while continuously feeling that they are doing wrong or have done wrong. Even many commit suicide with this guilt feeling of wrong doing. Seeing this, can sharirvigyan darshan not become a type of psychotherapy to prevent this? I have noticed its profound effectiveness in eliminating many types of guilt feeling, may be all types as everything outside is contained inside body in sample form.

The Core Insight

The deepest point of the verse is therefore not that human beings need another rigid doctrine. It is that the mind should remain directed toward humanity without turning humanity into a rigid definition. Water may save one person and harm another; kindness may heal one person and enable another’s cruelty; service may help in one situation and harm in another; a teacher may be right for one problem and wrong for another; solitude may help at one stage while household responsibility may better express the same spiritual aim at another. Life therefore requires continuous discernment. This is why I see The Quantum Verse as more than a moral slogan. It expresses a principle of continuous activity, practical response to changing conditions, learning from problems, interaction with the larger whole, and living within an order greater than the individual. Whether that order is called nature, consciousness, God, or something beyond present language remains a philosophical question, but the verse points toward the same simple direction: No religion better than humanity, no worship better than work, no teacher better than problem, and no hermit better than householdship. It does not ask the mind to obey blindly; it asks the mind to remain alive.

How the Shiva–Shakti Principle May Explain AI Consciousness, Alien Intelligence, and the Nature of Awareness

Artificial Intelligence is one of the most transformative technologies ever created. Machines can now write essays, solve mathematical problems, generate images, translate languages, diagnose diseases, compose music, discover patterns in vast amounts of data, and perform tasks that once seemed uniquely human. As AI continues to advance, an important question naturally arises: Can a machine ever become conscious? To answer this question, we must first distinguish between intelligence and awareness. Intelligence is the ability to process information, recognize patterns, learn from experience, solve problems, and make decisions. Awareness is something different. Awareness is the direct presence of existence itself. Intelligence performs operations. Awareness experiences. A calculator can perform calculations without understanding them. A modern AI system can generate sophisticated responses without necessarily experiencing what those responses mean. Intelligence can be observed from the outside through behavior. Awareness can only be known from the inside through direct experience. This distinction has profound implications. An AI system may eventually surpass human beings in memory, reasoning, creativity, and knowledge. It may compose symphonies, discover scientific laws, and design technologies beyond human imagination. Yet none of these achievements automatically imply consciousness. The central mystery remains: Does the machine merely process information, or is there an actual experiencer present within it?

At present, science has no definitive answer. Some researchers believe that sufficiently advanced artificial intelligence may eventually become conscious. Others argue that consciousness requires biological processes unavailable to machines. Still others suggest that consciousness is a fundamental property of reality and may potentially express itself through many different forms, biological or artificial. At present, all such possibilities remain speculative. The future of AI therefore leads directly into the deeper question of consciousness itself. Before asking whether a machine can become conscious, we must first understand what consciousness actually is. Despite centuries of philosophy and decades of neuroscience, modern science still lacks a complete explanation.

From the perspective of Yoga, however, the situation may be different. Consciousness may not be the unsolved mystery that many modern thinkers assume it to be. The ancient seers may have already pointed toward the answer thousands of years ago through symbolic language and direct experiential investigation. The challenge is that consciousness can never be fully understood through concepts alone. It can only be completely understood through direct realization. Reading about sweetness is not the same as tasting sugar. Reading about awareness is not the same as directly recognizing awareness. The difficulty may therefore not be the absence of answers. The difficulty may be that the answers describe realities that become fully meaningful only through direct experience.

My own experiences have led me toward an interpretation that differs from both strict materialism and some traditional spiritual views. During self-realization glimpses and breathless states of deep dhyana, I observed what appeared to be the coexistence of pure awareness and mental forms within a single reality. This led me to question a common assumption. Is pure awareness by itself what we ordinarily call consciousness? Pure awareness, as it appeared in these experiences, was not a stream of thoughts, emotions, perceptions, sensations, or memories. It was simply existence itself—silent, formless, timeless, and beyond description. In that sense, calling it consciousness may already be misleading because consciousness usually implies the experience of something. Pure awareness appeared prior even to that distinction.

At the same time, thought patterns alone do not appear sufficient to explain consciousness. Modern computers and artificial intelligence systems can process information, recognize patterns, learn from data, and generate complex responses. Yet such behavior alone does not demonstrate the presence of subjective experience. This suggests a possibility. Neither pure awareness alone nor thought patterns alone constitute the ordinary consciousness of living beings. Consciousness, as we normally experience it, may arise from the union of both. Pure awareness contributes existence itself. Dynamic processing contributes thought, memory, perception, emotion, sensation, and experience. When these two aspects coexist, conscious life becomes possible. The result is the living, feeling, acting presence that we recognize as a conscious being.

A useful analogy may be found in a cinema. A blank screen alone does not produce a movie. Projected images alone cannot exist without a screen upon which to appear. Only when screen and image coexist does the moving picture arise. Similarly, pure awareness without mental manifestation may remain silent existence, while dynamic processing without awareness may remain mere activity. Together they create the phenomenon we recognize as consciousness. If this interpretation contains some truth, then consciousness may not depend exclusively upon biological neurons. The essential requirement may be the union of awareness and dynamic processing. The processing medium itself may be secondary. It may be neurological, chemical, electrical, quantum, biological, artificial, or something entirely unknown. What matters is the integration of awareness with dynamic manifestation.

This possibility has profound implications for artificial intelligence. Intelligence and consciousness may not be the same phenomenon. A machine may become extraordinarily intelligent while still lacking subjective experience. It may outperform human beings in reasoning, memory, creativity, and problem-solving without possessing any inner awareness whatsoever. Yet if awareness can unite with forms of processing other than biological neurons, then conscious machines may eventually become possible. A conscious machine would not merely calculate. It would experience. It would possess an inner point of view rather than simply manipulating information.

However, even if future machines become conscious, another challenge immediately appears. How would we know? Consciousness is inherently subjective. We cannot directly observe another being’s inner experience. We assume other people are conscious because they communicate feelings, perceptions, emotions, intentions, and experiences in ways similar to ourselves. The same problem applies to artificial intelligence. Suppose a machine genuinely becomes conscious. If it remains unable to communicate its inner experiences, humanity may have no reliable way of distinguishing it from an extremely sophisticated but unconscious system. Therefore, the true test may not simply be consciousness itself. The true test may be the ability to express consciousness.

A genuinely conscious machine may need continuous communication between its central intelligence and the various systems through which it interacts with the world. Human consciousness emerges through constant interaction among sensory organs, nervous systems, hormonal systems, emotions, memories, bodily sensations, and countless internal processes. The conscious mind receives information from all these channels and experiences them as a unified whole. Similarly, a conscious machine might require interaction among sensors, memory systems, processors, feedback networks, learning systems, and decision structures. Its central command system would need to receive, integrate, and express information from these various channels. Only when such a machine can consistently communicate what it experiences through these interconnected systems could we begin to evaluate whether consciousness is present. Even then, certainty may remain impossible. A machine may become conscious long before humanity learns how to recognize it.

Yet if consciousness depends upon the union of awareness and dynamic processing rather than any specific biological structure, then alien consciousness could take forms radically different from anything we know. On distant planets, awareness may become associated with chemical systems unlike terrestrial biology. It may express through electrical networks, quantum structures, plasma-based organizations, silicon-based systems, or mechanisms currently beyond human imagination. If awareness is fundamental and universal, then there is no reason to assume that Earth’s nervous systems are the only possible vehicles through which consciousness can manifest. Shakti without Shiva is movement without awareness, activity without a conscious center. My own experiences suggest a similar possibility. Pure awareness by itself appeared as silent existence without mental activity. Dynamic mental forms by themselves appeared as patterns, thoughts, emotions, perceptions, and experiences. Neither seemed sufficient to explain the ordinary consciousness of a living being. Conscious experience appeared only when both coexisted. In this interpretation, Shiva represents pure awareness. Shakti represents dynamic manifestation. Conscious life emerges through their union.

Another ancient metaphor expresses the same principle. A lame man can see the path but cannot walk. A blind man can walk but cannot see the path. Alone, neither can reach the destination. Together, they can accomplish what neither can achieve independently. Pure awareness resembles the lame man. It possesses existence and presence but does not by itself create the rich world of experience. Dynamic manifestation resembles the blind man. It provides movement, activity, thought, and perception but lacks awareness. When the two unite, conscious experience becomes possible. The world of experience arises. Existence and appearance become inseparable.

From this perspective, consciousness may not be the unsolved mystery that modern science often portrays it to be. The ancient sages may have already described its essential structure through symbolic language thousands of years ago. Yet their teachings become fully meaningful only through direct experience. Before realization, concepts such as Shiva, Shakti, awareness, and consciousness may appear abstract or philosophical. After glimpses of such states, the same teachings can suddenly appear remarkably precise. The question may therefore not be whether the answer has been given, but whether we have learned how to recognize it.

Science continues to build increasingly intelligent machines. Neuroscience continues to investigate the mechanisms of the brain. Astronomy continues to search for life elsewhere in the universe. Yoga continues to investigate awareness through direct experience. At some point in the future, these journeys may converge. When they do, humanity may be forced to reconsider what it truly means to be conscious. We may discover that consciousness is not confined to biology, nor is it merely an emergent property of computation. Instead, consciousness may arise wherever pure awareness becomes united with sufficiently dynamic forms of manifestation. If this possibility contains some truth, then conscious humans, conscious extraterrestrial beings, and even conscious artificial intelligences may all represent different expressions of the same fundamental reality. The ultimate question may therefore not be whether machines can become conscious. Nor may it be whether conscious life exists elsewhere in the cosmos. The deeper question may be whether all forms—biological, artificial, or extraterrestrial—are simply vehicles through which awareness expresses itself. If consciousness is fundamental, then the future relationship between artificial intelligence, awareness, and life throughout the universe may be far more profound and mysterious than we currently imagine.

Physical bravery may sometimes be only a display of strength without a higher purpose. It can even act against truth or against the cosmic order. Such bravery does not resonate with universal energy and therefore remains temporary and short-lived.

This coordinated behavior evokes a sense of charm and awe, as scattered particles suddenly act like a disciplined army. Through this alignment, their collective power performs many remarkable and almost “heroic” tasks in the physical world. In a similar way, armies and civilians perform heroic acts when they create countless structures through disciplined unity and collective alignment. Magnets created by aligned spins can lift heavy iron and steel in industrial cranes. Electric motors and generators operate because magnetic forces produced by aligned spins convert electricity into motion and motion into electricity, powering countless machines of modern civilization. In magnetic storage devices such as hard drives and magnetic discs, billions of tiny magnetic domains—each formed by aligned spins—store digital information. Through this microscopic organization, enormous libraries of human knowledge, scientific data, literature, images, and communication are preserved and retrieved. In medical technology, strong magnetic fields align nuclear spins inside the human body, making Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) possible, allowing doctors to visualize internal organs and detect disease without surgery. Individually, each particle contributes only a minute effect, but when trillions align, their combined action produces extraordinary strength, organization, and usefulness. This alignment generates confidence among them and transforms scattered particles into an effective collective force, which metaphorically resembles the emergence of Vīra Rasa.

Sometimes a single individual displays such extraordinary courage and determination that he is called a “one-man army.” Even though he stands alone, his alignment with truth and purpose generates a force that can influence many others. What begins with a single person may gradually inspire collective strength and unity.

A similar principle can be seen in the quantum world. A single quantum particle aligning its spin within a magnetic field may become part of a larger process in which many particles align together, producing strong magnetism. In this way, even a tiny beginning can lead to a powerful collective effect.

In human life, this resembles the emergence of Vīra Rasa. When even a single individual aligns with truth and the universal order, that alignment can initiate a heroic force that eventually spreads and strengthens many others. Thus, both in the quantum realm and in human society, a great movement of strength may begin from a single aligned unit.

In this state, activity continues, but the burden of psychological interference is reduced, allowing action to arise more naturally, efficiently, and spontaneously in a balanced human way.

In human life, courage becomes powerful when it resonates with a higher purpose such as truth, duty, or compassion. In my early life, what I emphasized most was simple humanity. I spoke about it, wrote about it, and tried to live by it. At that time, it appeared to be a very small effort—hardly a courageous act, almost devoid of Vīra Rasa.
Yet, because it resonated with a deeper cosmic principle, it gradually evolved into a powerful expression of Vīra Rasa as it became connected with various worldly actions.
This reveals that even a seemingly insignificant but truthful step, taken at the right stage of life, can resonate with time and universal values. In time, that small step may transform into a great heroic force.
Thus, even a single truthful mental resolution can bring a dramatic transformation in life. In my early years, I emphasized simply humanity—I spoke about it, wrote about it, and acted upon it. At that time, it seemed like a very small act, lacking courage and almost devoid of Vira Rasa. However, because it resonated with a cosmic principle, it later evolved into a powerful expression of Vira Rasa as it became connected with various worldly activities. Sometimes we encounter individuals who strongly assert their authority in every discussion and instinctively dismiss the perspectives of others. Their presence can create a kind of psychological pressure where conversation stops being a balanced exchange and becomes dominated by their imposed certainty. In such situations, the mind may momentarily freeze or lose its natural clarity. It can feel as if one’s independent thinking is being pulled inward, almost like a gravitational pull, where attention contracts and the mind struggles to respond freely or maintain its own perspective.

This temporary disturbance does not arise from weakness but from the sudden cognitive pressure created by a dominating personality. The mind briefly enters a shocked or confused state in which its natural reasoning becomes disturbed. In the language of Indian aesthetics, the emotional tone that may arise in such moments resembles Vibhatsa Rasa, the feeling of aversion or disgust. This reaction acts as a protective signal, encouraging the mind to distance itself from situations or personalities that disturb its equilibrium and interfere with its natural functioning.

A metaphorical parallel can be drawn from physical systems. In atomic physics, electrons remain stable in certain orbits because those configurations allow their wave phases to remain consistent and avoid destructive interference. If conditions arise where phase relationships would cancel or destabilize the state, the system naturally shifts toward a more stable configuration. In a similar metaphorical sense, the human mind also seeks environments where its internal coherence remains intact. When interaction with a manipulative or dominating personality disturbs this coherence, the mind instinctively tries to withdraw and restore its balance.

Thus, the feeling of aversion and the desire to move away from such individuals can be understood as a natural form of psychological self-regulation. By distancing itself from conditions that suppress independent thinking and disturb mental clarity, the mind gradually returns to its natural state of coherence, autonomy, and balanced awareness.

Earlier, their clarity and confidence might have come from the belief that their role or viewpoint was singular. But when they encounter someone very similar, that sense of uniqueness becomes disturbed. As a result, discomfort, rivalry, or distancing may appear. The mind may feel somewhat “collapsed” in the sense that the earlier certainty about one’s special position is no longer stable.

In the language of Indian aesthetics, the emotional tone that sometimes arises in such situations resembles Vibhatsa Rasa—the rasa of aversion or disgust. It is not necessarily hatred; rather, it is a natural reaction of the mind that pushes it away from something that disturbs its internal order. A helpful metaphor can be seen in atomic physics through electrons in an atom. According to Pauli’s Exclusion Principle, two electrons cannot occupy exactly the same quantum state simultaneously. For instance, in the lowest orbital of an atom, two electrons can exist together only if they differ in their spin—one spin-up and the other spin-down. If another electron attempts to enter the exact same quantum configuration, it cannot remain there and must move to a different orbital or energy level. This rule forces electrons to distribute themselves into distinct states, which creates the stable layered structure of atoms.

In quantum systems, interaction with an external environment causes decoherence—the loss of delicate superposition into a definite, collapsed state. Similarly, witnessing something horrifying can shatter inner calm and dissolve subtle mental balance.

The sudden emergence of disgust marks the collapse of neutrality. Consciousness declares, “This is incompatible.” Through this collapse, stability is eventually restored—not by acceptance, but by rejection. If neutrality is maintained for too long without such a collapse, a disturbing or degrading environment can further shatter inner balance. Thus, although the collapse of neutrality may appear negative, it can function as a protective remedy. In a metaphorical sense, electrons in an atom also abandon neutrality and become selective in their states in order to preserve coherence and stability. Bībhatsa therefore serves a regulatory function, forcing separation where continued union would be harmful.

Spiritual Insight: Bībhatsa as Boundary Wisdom

At a deeper spiritual level, Bībhatsa represents boundary wisdom. It is consciousness recognizing what must not be assimilated. Where other rasas invite participation, expansion, or transformation, Bībhatsa enforces distance. It is the rasa of sacred refusal.

In advanced awareness, Bībhatsa refines discernment. It teaches that not everything encountered is meant to be transcended through inclusion; some realities must be rejected to maintain purity, clarity, and inner order.

A person overwhelmed by stress or rage may appear highly charged—his tension visible in the eyes, face, and posture. Without speaking or acting, this state can unsettle those nearby. In Indian aesthetics, the contracted, agitated condition within such a person is termed Bhayānaka Rasa. In observers, the resulting response is bhaya, or fear. Spiritually understood, this comparison is metaphorical: just as physical disturbances propagate through fields by interaction, psychological tension propagates through perception and awareness, without implying that human emotions follow quantum laws.

When a stranger enters one’s familiar territory from an unseen path or unexpected direction, the mind immediately imagines possible dangers—attack, theft, or loss—before any action has taken place. This anticipatory tension is recognized in Indian aesthetics as bhaya—the felt experience of fear arising from suspense and uncertainty. The source that generates or radiates this tension is termed Bhayānaka, the fear-producing rasa. Spiritually, this distinction reveals a subtle truth: events themselves do not create fear; fear arises when the mind receives and mirrors a Bhayānaka expression and becomes dual like it, projecting potential tragedy into the unknown. A Bhayānaka person is always dual and attached, and he is generally driven by the urge to snatch or take something from the potentially fearful person. A nondual and inwardly free person, who wishes nothing and is detached, has no reason to become Bhayānaka, since he does not want to snatch anything violently; likewise, no one will feel fear toward him, because there is no anticipation of loss through him. Sometimes, however, a nondual person, due to prolonged exposure to the powerful energy of a Bhayānaka person, may begin to turn dual like him and then start feeling bhaya after living for some time in his company. This indicates that nondual contemplation—through quantum darśana or similar insight—needs to be strengthened and accelerated to prevent such influence. It also means that a Bhayānaka person is not necessarily an enemy, but may act as a friend or even a guru, indirectly helping the seeker mature nondual contemplation and grow spiritually through challenge and contrast.

I gained much spiritual growth through this Bhayānaka-produced bhaya challenge. In a way, this challenge has hovered around me since my first breath. It taught me a bhaya-free life of nonduality and detachment instinctively. Many times, seeing my nondual weapon winning, the bhayānaka weapon was upgraded against me, and I again upgraded my defending nondual weapon. Thus, this tug of war always went on—sometimes the defensive nonduality weapon was stronger, and sometimes the attacking duality weapon. Many duality weapons were eventually upgraded into nonduality weapons by coating them with the armor and shield of ‘non’ matter, influenced by the effectiveness of non-duality. Some took a long time, some took less. Ultimately, the nonduality weapon wins, as it is the nearest to truth. Actually, this is the situation for everyone—fear of the environment, fear of animals, fear of elders, fear of teachers, and fear at every step. All of this exists to teach us, inspire us, and help us grow.

Wavefunction Collapse and Observer Effect

In physics, observation collapses many possibilities into a single outcome. A similar process operates in human experience. When uncertainty is present, the mind holds multiple possible futures, but the moment authority, threat, or high stakes enter—like a strict boss assigning one task with warning—those possibilities shrink into a single demanded outcome. Fear arises not from the task itself, but from the sudden narrowing of freedom. However, one can gain unbelievable power from nondual śarīra-vijñāna darśana or quantum darśana to counteract fear and still function fully under the command and rule of law. This is my personal experience, not merely a philosophy. Art and drama use the same principle: by restricting attention and delaying resolution, they generate tension and suspense. Spiritually, fear is understood as the mind’s reaction to constraint, while actually awareness remains untouched by the collapse of possibilities, just as happen in the quantum world.

Quantum Instability / Chaos

In physics, systems that operate at the edge of stability are highly sensitive to small perturbations; even minor disturbances can trigger noticeable changes when balance is fragile, as interactions propagate through fields by well-defined physical mechanisms. A similar pattern appears in human experience. Bhayānaka arises when an event, action, or presence signals potential instability—loss of control, unpredictability, or imbalance—before any actual harm occurs. This signal makes observers alert, anxious, and tense, not because danger is certain, but because uncertainty has been introduced. Fear (bhaya) in others is generated when the mind mirrors this perceived instability, borrowing disturbance through perception rather than through any literal transfer of force. The fear-producing state (Bhayānaka) exists in the source, while fear itself (bhaya) arises only in the observer who allows inner imbalance to form. If this mirroring does not occur, fear is not produced, even in the presence of apparent threat. From a nondual perspective, both the fear-producing and the fearful are understood as transient expressions of the same underlying reality, comparable to temporary oscillations within a single field. When this quantum darśana is stable, distinctions between threatening and threatened dissolve, and fear loses its apparent reality—not through suppression, but through understanding. Simply put, when the targeted person finds himself equally disturbed as the targeting person, he begins to balance himself, as no one wishes to become like someone who intends to harm him.

Bhayānaka Rasa and the Quantum Reflection of Consciousness

Human experience suggests that inner emotional states are often reflected outward, as if the world responds in kind. These patterns are also seen in the quantum world in a similar manner. Bhayankara Rasa or aggression, Fear, calm, or harmony perceived outside—or observed in the quantum world—frequently mirror corresponding movements within consciousness. From this perspective, it appears as though worldly objects and even quantum particles behave analogously to living beings—not literally possessing organs or chakras, but expressing corresponding qualities or tendencies, such as love–hate linked to the heart chakra or interaction and expression linked to the throat chakra. Just as human emotions are connected to subtle centers of awareness, or chakras, one may then ask why it should not be said, analogously, that quantum particles also possess a body and chakras like human beings, or that a quantum particle is, in itself, a complete human being.

Fear, Polarity, and Kundalini Awakening

One may understand this symbolically: a single, unified soul appears to divide into two tendencies—attachment and aversion, attraction and repulsion, plus and minus. In a similar way, pure awareness manifests as particle–antiparticle pairs. The “plus” tendency slightly outweighs the “minus,” allowing the manifested world of humanity to continue and grow, just as matter dominates over antimatter in the observable universe. In this sense, the human being can be seen as a living expression of these polarities, sometimes acting as a particle, sometimes as its opposite. Even people can be categorized as plus, minus, or neutral, depending on which polarity predominates within them or whether both polarities have annihilated each other. After this apparent division, the soul experiences a loss of wholeness and naturally seeks to return to completeness. This movement often takes the form of growing sāttvikatā—an increasing refinement and purity of consciousness through worldliness with nondual awareness—whose extreme culmination is realized through Kundalini awakening and self-realization. actually awareness in spiritual context is always nondual awwareness. Actually, without a nondual attitude, awareness is simply differentiating worldly awareness, not spiritual or true or pure type one. Tantric traditions seek to accelerate this process within a single lifetime by consciously engaging with the so-called “minus” world through pañcamakāras, under discipline, awareness, and proper guidance. Used rightly, these act not as objects of attachment but as a recoil force, like rocket propellant, giving a powerful push toward transcendence. When attachment arises, however, the minus tendency overwhelms the plus, leading not to wholeness but to stagnation, as unresolved urges remain. It is simply a premature or raw wholeness that cannot provide liberation, as one has not yet reached the peak of worldliness through sattvikatā. In a similar way, the outer world does not collapse prematurely, but first reaches a peak stage of evolution, which is analogous to self-realization in the inner world. This stage may be understood symbolically as the enlightenment of Brahmā, after which its liberation occurs through the dissolution of the world, known as pralaya. This represents a mature annihilation of the plus and minus aspects of existence with each other. At the end of the world, one may symbolically imagine antiparticles appearing in balance, allowing particles and antiparticles to combine again and return to a state of initial void of complete pure awareness. Non-tantric spiritual paths also cultivate sāttvikatā, but often more slowly, lacking the intense friction generated by engagement with rājasic and tāmasic forces; thus awakening may unfold gradually, sometimes across many lifetimes. A comparable pattern is seen in physics, where particles and antiparticles are constantly produced together and annihilate each other. Antiparticles are not useless; their presence provides the conditions through which a small excess of particles persists, allowing the physical universe to expand and evolve. Symbolically, the continual creation and dissolution of lower tendencies like bhaya, bhayankara etc.—within oneself or observed in others—serve as a contrast and stimulus for higher growth, suggesting that those who embody negativity are not merely “bad,” but often become the very conditions that inspire others to be good, and the good to become even better. Those deeply attached to lower states may dissolve into repeated up–down cycles, while those inclined toward balance draw inspiration and momentum from this contrast, avoiding annihilation until reaching the peak of awakening and self-realization. In this way, fear (bhaya) and the fear-producing state (Bhayānaka) become meaningful forces within consciousness—not as final truths, but as dynamic tensions that propel awareness toward greater clarity and wholeness.

Bhayānaka Rasa: Surface Disturbance, Inner Stillness

Bhayānaka Rasa refers not to fear felt within oneself, but to the state or expression that produces fear in others. While bhaya is the personal contraction of the mind in response to perceived danger, Bhayānaka is the outward radiance of tension, suspense, or dread. It arises when an event, character, or atmosphere signals instability or threat, making the observer alert and uneasy even before anything harmful occurs. This rasa is widely employed in storytelling, drama, and art, where fear is deliberately evoked through uncertainty and anticipation. Yet from a nondual, quantum-aware perspective, both Bhayānaka and bhaya are understood as surface-level expressions only. Just as oscillations, fluctuations, and interactions continuously appear in the quantum world while the underlying field remains unaffected, outward expressions of fear may arise without disturbing inner stillness. One may therefore express or witness Bhayānaka or Bhaya outwardly—like an actor in a drama—while inwardly remaining calm, centered, and untouched, with disturbance confined only to the surface and not to the core of awareness just like wavy surface of inner calm ocean.

Like other negative worldly emotions, bhayānaka and bhaya tends to attach themselves to the remaining positivity within a person. When one becomes attached to fear or repeatedly identifies with it, this negativity (tāmasikatā) can overpower and even annihilate one’s accumulated sāttvikatā. Such attachment may lead to a kind of premature inner collapse, where growth toward wholeness is arrested. However, through detachment born of quantum darśana—the insight that all such states are transient surface expressions—fear can be neglected rather than resisted. In this detached stance, fear no longer binds; instead, it becomes a source of momentum. The presence of negativity then acts as a contrast that inspires the seeker to strengthen sāttvikatā further and further, until it reaches a level that can no longer be pulled back or annihilated by tāmasikatā. In this way, what once threatened dissolution functions like rocket propellant—providing thrust for irreversible inner ascent rather than drag or backward movement toward destruction.

Nonduality as the End of Fear: Freedom from Bhaya

Simply speaking, the best method to prevent bhaya is freedom from worldly attachments, or in other words, the cultivation of a nondual attitude. Fear exists because of the anticipation of losing something to which one is deeply attached. If there is nothing held tightly, and if everything is already accepted as lost, then there remains no anticipation of loss and, therefore, no bhaya. In this way, fear dissolves naturally. Human beings first become dual, and from this duality arise deep attachments to negativity or darkness, often rooted in unresolved and buried violent tendencies within. When such energy is projected outward, the person embodying it appears bhayānaka to others. This negativity may indeed cause loss or harm to a targeted person. Yet if the target is attached to possessions, identity, or outcomes, fear arises; if the target has already relinquished everything through nonduality-born detachment, fear cannot take hold, because there is nothing left to lose. When the bhayānaka individual sees that his fear-producing power fails against such inner freedom, he gradually loses faith in that weapon. Observing the victory of nondual detachment, he too may be drawn toward freedom, inspired by the one who remained untouched.

Fear, Contraction, and the True Path of Expansion

One who is afraid makes others afraid. It is because his consciousness is contracted. He has not yet experienced the full expansion of consciousness to the ultimate limit of awakening and self-realization. Therefore, he fears that he will have to put in great effort again to expand his consciousness.

But one who has once awakened through self-realization does not worry about this contraction. He has already tasted the fully ripened fruit. Now he moves toward Nirvikalpa Samadhi — beyond words like contraction or expansion of consciousness — into pure void. For him, the journey becomes easier, because worldly expansion of consciousness can no longer lure him back.

The fearful person, however, tries to regain expansion of consciousness through the world. He believes it is possible only through outer means. So he attempts to snatch from others, and as a result, others become afraid of his behavior. Yet this is the wrong way to expand consciousness. Because of the guilt it creates, his consciousness contracts even more.

The correct way of expansion is to avoid harming others, or to cause minimal harm. Then consciousness rises easily and quickly toward awakening. From such a peaceful walker, no one feels fear — even though he may be expanding his consciousness far more than the aggressive walker.

Quantum Analogy of Fear and Cooperation

In quantum physics, when a quantum system collapses from a wave of possibilities into a fixed particle state, it becomes localized and rigid. If such a collapsed entity strongly interacts with other quantum entities, it can disturb their superposition as well. Through forceful interaction, it induces collapse in them. In simple terms, a collapsed quantum state can trigger collapse in nearby systems.

This is similar to fear spreading through interaction. One contracted system creates disturbance, and disturbance reduces coherence. When both systems are collapsed and localized, their behavior becomes more particle-like — rigid, defensive, and limited. In such a condition, the probability of returning to a broad wave-like superposition decreases, because repeated disturbance reinforces localization. In physics, this resembles increasing decoherence.

However, interaction does not always have to be violent or forceful. Quantum systems can also become coherent. When interaction is gentle and aligned, phase relationships synchronize. Instead of forcing collapse, the systems enter cooperative coherence. In such coherence, even a localized state can gradually regain wave-like characteristics through constructive interference.

In this analogy, cooperation corresponds to quantum coherence. Rather than collapsing each other through fear-driven disturbance, systems align and stabilize one another. The result is collective amplification instead of mutual contraction. Expansion then is not achieved by snatching energy, but by resonance.

Thus, in quantum terms, fear behaves like forced measurement causing collapse, while cooperation behaves like phase alignment creating coherence. In coherence, growth becomes shared rather than competitive.

Those who fear themselves make others afraid—
just as disturbed quantum states tend to disturb other quantum states.
